Spring Wellness

Spring Wellness

Hello, I’m Chiaki from RAKU RWO-SHR Reflexology.

Finally, the long winter has ended, and spring has come!
Spring is a season of change, and it is important to manage our health.
This time, I would like to talk about spring wellness from the perspective of Yin-Yang and Five Elements theory.

Firstly, spring is a season when the Yang energy increases. With the increase in Yang, the Yin energy in our body decreases. We are affected by this change in Yin-Yang balance and our physical and mental condition may become unstable. The rapid increase in Yang also makes it easier for "upper body symptoms" such as headaches, nasal congestion, dizziness, and unsteadiness to occur in this season.

Spring is the season of "Wood", and "Wood" corresponds to the "Liver". The liver is vulnerable to stress. Therefore, it is important to keep the liver healthy.

For food, green vegetables, especially seasonal foods in spring (such as spring chrysanthemum, cherries, celery, rapeseed flowers, burdock, asparagus, komatsuna, etc.) are recommended. Citrus fruits with acidity are also believed to improve "Qi" circulation.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the liver controls our anger, so if it's not in good shape, we could end up being quick to anger or have lots of pent-up rage. Definitely not a good place to be in!

It is recommended to make time for self-care activities such as gentle exercise like walking or jogging, taking a bath to warm up the body and relax, immersing yourself in hobbies, meditating, and receiving a massage.

Please make sure to take some time to take care of yourself!
