Question: Are you sick?

When asked, "Are you sick?" many people would answer, "No, I am not sick."

In Western medicine, the concept of health and illness is binary.
However, in Eastern medicine, there is a concept called "pre-illness" or "not-quite-ill."
Pre-illness refers to a state in which a person is not yet sick, but their health is gradually deteriorating.

By addressing pre-illness symptoms, it is possible to prevent illness and avoid serious health conditions.
Pre-illness symptoms include feeling tired, sluggishness, dizziness, insomnia, edema, coldness, low body temperature, headaches, and other general feelings of malaise.

Most people experience these kinds of symptoms to some degree, and I am no exception.
We are all in a state of pre-illness to some extent.

I'm not saying it is bad, though. However I believe we should be aware of it!

I mean, while we are still in the "pre-illness" stage, we should assess our lifestyle so that we can easily prevent illness and return to a healthy state.

If the "pre-illness" state persists for an extended period of time, it will eventually become a true illness.
It is difficult to recover from illness on your own.

突然「病気?」って聞かれたら何て答えますか?
「いや、病気じゃないよ」と答える人、多いかと思います。

西洋医学では健康か病気かの二者択一ですが、東洋医学では「未病」という概念があるんです。

未病っていうのは、まだ病気じゃないけど、徐々に健康が悪くなってる状態のこと。
未病の段階でちゃんと対処すれば、病気を防げたり重症化を避けられることもあります。

未病の症状は、例えば疲れやすい、だるい、めまい、寝付きが悪い、むくみ、冷え、低体温、頭痛など、何となく調子が悪い感じ。そんな症状、現代人にはよくありますよね。
その基準で考えると、私も立派な未病です!

だから、ダメってわけじゃなく、ちょっと注意しておきましょう!と言いたいのです。
未病の段階で、生活習慣を見直して予防することが大事なんです。

未病が長引くと、やがて本格的な病気になってしまい、自分で治すのは難しくなってしまいます。
